Las Vegas Eye Care Practice Introduces LenSx® Laser Cataract Surgery

Las Vegas, NV — Dr. Helga F. Pizio and her New Eyes center for vision correction and cataract surgery in Las Vegas have announced the recent addition of the latest technology in laser cataract surgery called the LenSx® Femtosecond Laser system. Affecting nearly 22 million Americans over the age of 40 and more than half of all Americans over 80, Dr. Pizio says cataracts are a frustrating and debilitating condition that require advanced techniques and skilled precision to treat. With the introduction of the LenSx® laser cataract surgery procedure to her New Eyes practice, Dr. Pizio says she is excited to offer patients an even more innovative and effective treatment option for addressing age-related vision loss.

Also focusing on a wide range of eyecare and vision correction procedures at her practice, the Las Vegas cataract surgeon says having a diverse arsenal of proven devices for treating patient concerns is essential for ensuring each individual receives the proper care. By adding the LenSx® laser to her list of procedures, Dr. Helga F.Pizio says New Eyes has made a conscious effort to put its patients first, striving for the safest, most successful treatments available. Dr. Pizio adds that the laser cataract surgery procedure provides a customized plan for removing the cataracts that is dictated by each patient’s needs.

Using a small beam of laser energy, the LenSx® Femtosecond Laser system creates small incisions on the cornea without the need for a surgical blade. The cataract is then removed and an intraocular implant is inserted into the eye based on which lens is determined to be the best fit for the patient’s needs, whether they are looking for better distance vision, near vision, or both. Dr. Pizio says her Las Vegas practice New Eyes also combines the LenSx® cataract surgery with Optiwave Refractive Analysis or ORA, a technique she has labeled SMART Cataract Surgery, to help patients achieve the most customized vision correction possible and further reduce the margin of error.

Having witnessed the effectiveness and results of the new LenSx® laser cataract surgery procedure firsthand, Dr. Helga F. Pizio says she is eager to continue treating her patients with the new device and hopes to spread the word so more people can take advantage of its benefits in correcting vision loss. As with any procedure, however, she says consulting with a board-certified and experienced ophthalmologist is paramount for achieving the best results and she urges all patients to actively research their cataract surgery before undergoing treatment.
